I want to tell Nell’s family how sorry I am for her suddenly leaving us. I’m an elderly breeder of Miniature Pinschers, Nell bought Bella as a puppy years ago, but became a cherished phone friend for all this time. I regret not meeting her in person.

She called me twice recently, telling me of her illness and how distraught she was about where her little girl would end up. I cried a lot and promised her I “always” take back any dog I
