Dr. Laura Pruitt Walker's Obituary
Laura Walker entered the gates of heaven at the age of 58 on April 20,2026. She was born August 21,1967 and was a resident of Southside Al.
Laura loved helping people in all walks of life but she found comfort in helping children and adolescents. She got her nursing degree in 1997 and specialized in psych nursing. She started her educator career at JSU in 2008 and later furthered her own education. In 2019 she became a doctoral educator at JSU where she taught graduate students.
To know Laura was to love her. She left a piece of her heart with everyone she encountered. She loved to celebrate Christmas and loved her family deeply.
She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years Dannie Walker; son, Corey Walker; daughter, Megan Fleming (Josh), grandbabies; Henry and William Fleming; Parents, Ralph & Laverne Pruitt; Sister, Kim Rhodes(Trey); Nieces, Kayla Dausch (Jimmy), Kerri Rhodes (Quent), Kristen Rhodes (Logan); nephew, Chase Rhodes(Maci) and many extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Melody Tumlin Pruitt; Grandparents, Amos & Dorthy Tumlin, Rufus Pruitt & Bertie Autwell.
Her family would like to extend a sincere thanks to the staff at Alabama Hospice and her sitters Regina and Denise.
A Memorial Service will be held at The Magnolia House at Cremation Services of East Alabama on Wednesday, April 29th, 2026 at 5:00 PM.
