June Eileen Tompkins' Obituary
June Tompkins, age 57, of Jacksonville, AL passed away on Jan 18, 2020 in Birmingham, AL. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan 25, 11:00 am, at Jukebox Events, 134 Elm St., Oxford, AL. Visitation with the family will immediately follow the service.
June was born on April 11, 1962 to James and Judy Tompkins of Jacksonville. She graduated from Jacksonville High School, where she played for the JHS softball and basketball teams. Though she spent much of her life working as an optician, she had a passion for music and was well-known as a drummer and a singer. She deeply loved her family and especially enjoyed mothering her nephews and nieces. Wherever she went, people liked her because she liked people. She was fun and knew how to make you laugh, while also being a fighter who didn’t easily give up. Junebug's soulful voice and passionate heart will be missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Judy Tompkins, and her 'sugarboog', nephew Samuel Tompkins. She is survived by her siblings: Jimmy Tompkins and his wife Melea, Jonathan Tompkins and his wife Lori, and Jennifer Crutchfield and her husband Chris; and her nephews and nieces: Jared Tompkins, Nathan Tompkins, Mason Tompkins, Olivia Tompkins, Victoria Tompkins, Aria Tompkins, and Ellianna Davis.
