John was such an incredibly kind and caring man. I met him while serving in the 1-167th IN BN HQ, and worked alongside him as we prepared the battalion for its deployment to Afghanistan in 2012. The photo is from when he invited me to go hunting with him.
You couldn’t ask for a more honest and capable person to have as a friend, and I feel deeply for his family’s loss of this phenomenal father and brother.
It’s so sad to have to say farewell to an honorable brother-in-arms. Brother, hold the line, and I’ll see you on the other side.

John and I worked together many years ago. We kept in touch as the years have passed sharing memes and funny videos clips with each other. We'd catch up talking about our kids and how life was treating us. He'd never miss an opportunity to send me a funny Forrest Gump meme or video. The last message I sent to John will be left unread. I pray he finally found the grace and healing he worked so hard towards. You will be missed my friend.
