Alan Richard Wood, age 63, of Horton, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on June 3, 2026, surrounded by love
.
Alan was the kind of person you simply never forgot. If you knew him, you loved him. He was known for his incredible sense of humor, quick wit, and ability to make anyone laugh. He had a personality larger than life, a kind heart, and a way of making people feel welcome wherever he went. He was always willing to help anyone who needed him.
Alan was incredibly smart and talented with his hands. He worked as a carpenter for many years, building homes and businesses that stand as part of his legacy and hard work. He loved being outdoors, working in the yard, tinkering, building things, spending time with family and friends, and cheering on Alabama football and basketball.
To many, Alan was known for sports, friendship, laughter, and being the life of the room.
More than anything, Alan was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, companion, and friend. The love he gave so freely will leave a space that can never truly be filled.
Alan fought through more challenges in life than most should ever have to face. He showed strength and determination time and time again. He fought hard and stayed strong through every battle placed in front of him.
He is survived by his companion, Carol Morrow; daughters, Jennifer Morton and Ashley Wood; grandchildren, Jordan Griffin and Maddox Griffin; great-grandson, Kingston Griffin; Sisters, Liane Kelly and Susan Marcum. And many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Wood and Sam Wood. Grandparents, Katherine and DE Walker, and Samuel and Daisy Wood.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing Alan is finally at peace, no longer suffering, and forever remembered for the laughter, love, and kindness he brought to so many lives.
