My sister is my favorite memory. . .she always made everything special...she touched so many, loved everyone. Her smile was infectious, laughter contagious. She always brought the light with her. She could make stunning gardens grow from a single seed and speck of dirt. I was very protective over my sister and thought it was my place to take care of her. A few years back, she was transitioning in a new chapter in her life and was staying with me. While staying with me, she abruptly left with no warning, just a 3 page letter explaining that she needed to move back to where she thought was home because she wanted to make me proud. I wasn't proud, I was scared, scared she wouldn't do ok. So I was hurt for a while. She, the light she is, reached out to me about two years later and asked me to come visit. I hesitated but needed to go see her. I missed her so. When I got there, I looked into her eyes and saw happiness. Then, I looked around and saw a life that SHE had created ON HER OWN. When I looked back at her, we both had tears in our eyes. She spoke softly and asked if I was proud. . .A big lump closed my throat off as tears streamed down my face. She worked so hard to make me proud? I was indeed proud, but even more, I was gleaming with pride that God blessed me with one of the sweetest souls on Earth as my sister...my best friend! You will forever be my best friend.
