Steven Jerome Parmer's Obituary
Steven Jerome Parmer, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother-in-law, passed away at
Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, AL on May 4, 2024, at the age of 68. Born on
February 27, 1956, in Talladega, Steven most recently resided in Piedmont.
Steven had a zest for life and found joy in simple pleasures. A true sci-fi enthusiast, Steven was a
dedicated fan of both Star Trek and Star Wars. He also had a passion for sports, with Alabama
being his favorite team. He was known for his musical talents, particularly playing the guitar,
and singing karaoke. His love for music was evident in the countless hours he spent entertaining
family and friends. Steven cherished his time spent with loved ones, always creating lasting
memories.
Professionally, Steven excelled as an upholstery repair technician. He was the proud founder,
with the help of his wife Rebecca, of A-1 Upholstery Repair in 1998, leaving a legacy in the
industry.
Steven was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Rebecca Champion Parmer, for almost 30
years. Their bond was strong, built on love and shared experiences.
In addition to his wife, Steven is survived by his children: Steven Jay Parmer (Nikki), Lesley
Diane Archer, Misty Robin Crosson (Aaron), Lindsay Nicole Rose (Douglas), Steven Daniel
Parmer (Cherish), and Chad Dustin Archer. He was a cherished grandfather to Cara, Landon,
Emma, Dawson, Chase, Damien, Kiarra, Ava, Eli, Leonidaz, Aaliyah, Adelaide, Asa, and Levi.
He is also survived by his uncle and mentor, Donald Haywood. Steven also leaves behind his
brothers-in-law: Brad, Brian (Connie), and Benny (Jessica) Champion; cousins: Carol (Kenny)
Newsome, Billy Haywood, Carlton (Deb) Tinker, Beau Haywood, and Mande Cotton; as well as
extended family members: Tissy Butler, Tammy Medhus, Steven Clint Partain (Jess), and Tessa.
Steven is preceded in death by his parents Melvin & Betty Parmer, father and mother-in-law
Charles & Jeannette Champion, uncle Bill (Judy) Haywood, aunt Jean Haywood Anderson,
grandson Taylor Jayce Parmer, and cousin Allen "Spud" Tinker.
Arrangements will be held on Saturday, May 11th, 2024 at Cremation Services of East Alabama
733 White Plains Rd Anniston, AL 36207 with family from 12pm-1pm and friends from 1pm2pm.
A memorial service in his honor will begin at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a
donation be made in Steven’s honor to First Baptist Church of Piedmont 105 N. Main Street
Piedmont, AL 36272.
Steven Jerome Parmer will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His kind heart, infectious
laughter, and warm presence will be remembered fondly. May he rest in eternal peace.
