Steve Randall Dingler's Obituary
Steve Randall Dingler, 71, of Piedmont, Alabama, passed away in his home on December 30, 2025 — exactly where he would have wanted to be. Born on March 18, 1954, Steve lived a charmed life defined by generosity, laughter, loyalty, and a willingness to help anyone who needed him.
Steve was preceded in death by his only son Brandon Dingler, whom he loved dearly; his wife Vicki; his parents, Martha and Austin Dingler; and Randall’s two siblings, Glenda Woods and Willene McFry.
He is survived by his daughters, Stacy Dingler Rodriguez, Tracy Cheatwood, and one son-in-law, Chris Cheatwood. Stacy carries his passion for living a full throttle, fearless way of life, while Tracy carries his calm strength, pragmatism, and steady presence that keeps people anchored. The girls were his most prized achievements. He is also survived by his sister Sheila Dingler Lane and his brother Jeff Dingler, who knew better than anyone how deeply Steve showed up for family. He was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Tony Rodriguez (32), Isaiah Rodriguez (26), Maleah Rodriguez (24), Cohen Cheatwood (21), and Caden Cheatwood (16). They were his joy, his bragging rights, and the people he loved watching grow into themselves.
Steve was the go-to person you called when life got messy. If you needed a few dollars until payday, a ride to the store, a tool pawned to get you through the week, or someone to help you figure out how to make something work again, he stepped in without hesitation. He taught nephews and friends how to work on cars, how to flip a lawnmower for quick cash, how to fix what was broken — whether it was an engine or a situation. He believed in showing up, doing the work, and taking care of people in the ways that mattered most.
He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and will miss his steady presence, his practical wisdom, and the way he made hard times feel survivable.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 17, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Community Congregational Holiness Church, with Danny Jeffers officiating. All who knew and loved Randall are invited to come honor his memory.
