Sebrena Kay Rowan's Obituary
Sebrena Kay Rowan, 54, of Anniston, Alabama passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Regional Medical Center in Anniston, Alabama. Kay was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, nurse, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Kay was born in Anniston, Alabama on February 24, 1971, to Sherry Layton and Jerry McClellan. She was raised here and ultimately graduated from Walter Wellborn High School in 1989. Kay’s high school life was busy; she excelled academically and twirled as a Panther Majorette. After High School graduation she began pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing at Jacksonville State University. While there she was on the JSU Basketball Dance Team. She graduated from their program and immediately began work at Regional Medical Center where she worked from 1992 up to 2003.
After a stint at her local hospital Kay and her young family departed far west for her second career as a traveling nurse. This opportunity took Her, Glen, Lindsey, and Jo, far beyond the city limits of Anniston, across the country to beautiful beaches, and tropical sunny climates. She was a devoted nurse and caregiver who was beloved by her patients.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Jordan Rowan, of Ohatchee, AL; her sister, Dawn Baswell, of Ohatchee AL; her Nephew Mason Baswell, of Ohatchee AL; her nieces, Brook Baswell of Heflin, AL, Emily Baswell, of Ohatchee, AL, and Kelci Baswell, of Villa Rica, GA; her cousins Mindy Surrett, of Ohatchee, Tracy Saldana, of Oxford, AL, and Tammy Lucas, of Birmingham AL. Also, two of her dearest lifelong friends, Glen Rowan and Sandra Roth.
Kay is preceded in death by her long-missed daughter, Lindsey Rowan, also her parents Sherry Layton and Jerry McClellan.
A Memorial Service for Kay will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at 2PM at the Magnolia House at Cremation Services of East Alabama; a visitation will precede the service at 1PM.
