Ruth Nell Ogle's Obituary
Ruth Nell Ogle (Mitchell), age 84, of Opelika, Alabama, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026.
Born on September 13, 1941, in Lineville, Alabama, Ruth was the daughter of the late J.P. Mitchell and Eunice Mitchell. She is preceded in death by her beloved son, Joe Alewine, her sister, Carol Whitlow, her twin brother, Burnel Mitchell and her parents-in-law, Earlis and Allie Ogle.
Ruth is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Franklin Ogle of Opelika, Alabama. She leaves behind her devoted children, Melinda Cottrell (Michael) of Temple, Georgia, and Billy Alewine (Tara) of Carrollton, Georgia. She was a proud and cherished grandmother to Hailey Alewine (Dustin Bates) of Carrollton, Georgia, Amber Cole (Tate) of Bremen, Georgia, and Daniel Cottrell (Stephanie) of Temple, GA. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Jamie Ogle (Donnetta) of Opelika, Alabama, her sister-in-law, Susan Shadrix of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and her nephew Steve Whitlow of Valley, Alabama
Ruth loved her family deeply. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world, and she never missed an opportunity to tell her granddaughters they were the most beautiful girls in the world. She also had a special love for her dogs, who brought her much joy and companionship over the years.
A memorial and gathering will be held at Roopville Road Baptist Church on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 3:30 PM EST, followed by the memorial service at 4:00 PM EST.
Ruth will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her kind heart, and the warmth she shared with those around her.
