Roy Lee Jones' Obituary
Roy Lee Jones, age 84, of Piedmont, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on April 8, 2026.
Roy was born on September 4, 1941, to Hubert and Gladys Jones. On Friday, October 13, 1961, he married the love of his life, Linda Doss Jones, with whom he shared 64 devoted years of marriage. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work.
A dedicated businessman, Roy spent most of his life as the owner of Jones Quality Concrete. His craftsmanship and work ethic left a lasting mark on many projects, including his contribution to the construction of Turner Field. Beyond his work, Roy had a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. He was an avid beekeeper and a proud member of the Northeast Alabama Beekeepers Association. He found great happiness in gardening, songwriting, and music, playing multiple instruments and sharing his talents with those around him. Roy also had a special gift with animals, raising chickens, goats, pigs, and cows, and somehow always managing to keep them in line.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved granddaughter, McKenna Jones.
Roy leaves behind his loving wife, Linda Doss Jones; his children, Brian (Tammy), Darwin, and Barry (Tonya); his grandchildren, Tyler (Kati), Hunter (Mackensie), Craig (Bethany), Adam, Brandon, Josh (Payton), Abbie (Ben), Mitchell (Dakota), Ryan, and Tristen; his siblings, Glen (Koneta) and Shirley; and his great-grandchildren: Emmie, Hanson, Knox, Emory, Cara, Ellie, Mylo, Millie, Elijah, Silas, Quinley and little Roy Brian Jones who also shares Paw Paw Roy’s birthday. Roy deeply loved and cherished his family, and his memory will live on in the hearts of each one of them.
A graveside service will be held at Nance's Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery on April 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rhonda Amberson, who, despite her retirement from nursing, faithfully came each day to check on Roy and provide compassionate care.
Roy will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for his family, and the many lives he touched through his kindness, talents, and unwavering spirit.
