Randy Gay Goodson's Obituary
Randy Goodson left this earth on March 6, 2026 at the age of 58. He lived a rich life full of travel, adventure, learning, and most of all, gratitude. His favorite times were good conversation with friends around the fire pit. Even if you didn’t agree on everything, life was better when you had deep discussions and shared a good meal. He despised small talk, treasured his pups, and lived every day hoping to be a better person than he was the day before. Some days he succeeded and some days he failed, but he would always try again. If he ran into you at the gym, in a store, or just sent you a random text, chances are you’d be asked, “Tell me 3 things you’re grateful for today.” These answers were the best parts of his day and would most always make you smile when he asked.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Kristie, who deeply loved her Bear; mother, Pat Goodson; son, Mathew Goodson; lifelong friend and brother, David Norton; nieces Destiny (Andrew) Bostick, Whitley Snyder, and Emily (Andrew) Howell; nephew, Deaken Sexton; a great-niece and three great-nephews, and many friends that he considered family. He was preceded in death by his father Jerry Goodson and his nephew Dylan Sexton.
His family extends their sincere thanks to all the doctors, nurses, and caregivers who helped him over the past year of medical challenges. You are far too numerous to name and saved his life many times, but we’d be remiss to not give special thanks to his friend Dr. Davisson Edmond who consistently went above and beyond to coordinate his care. We deeply appreciate the staff of Amedisys and SouthernCare New Beacon who made his final week comfortable and allowed him to be at home.
There will be a Celebration of Life held for Randy at The Michael Event Venue on Saturday, May 2nd at 4 PM, with a reception to follow. The Michael is located at 10461 Choccolocco Road, Anniston, AL. Please feel free to dress casual and be yourself... Randy would want it that way.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Interfaith Ministries in honor of Randy Goodson. Interfaith Ministries Donations
