Ralph Douglas Kirby's Obituary
Ralph Douglas Kirby, age 69 of Anniston passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, February 27 surrounded by loving family.
Ralph was born on September 20, 1953 in Augusta, GA and was raised in Douglasville, GA until he moved to Alabama.
Ralph was a very talented local musician. He played in several bands with countless musicians since the late 1960s. He enjoyed singing and playing lead guitar, pedal steel, and keyboards. He was awarded Duo of the Year alongside his wife at NACMAI in Pigeon Forge, TN. He was part owner in A&K Electronics before working at the Anniston Army Depot where he retired after 39 years. Additionally, he was an engineer at several local radio stations including- Alabama 100, WDNG, WVOK-K98, and WCKA and several others part time. As well as an evening instructor for radio and television at Ayers Technical College.
Ralph was a devoted husband, father, and pawpaw. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Lynn; 3 children - Lachristia Nichols (Ken) of Alexandria; Renee Bielska (Maruisz) of Anniston; Derek Kirby (Meaghan) of Austin, TX; 9 grandchildren - Colton Johns, Kyler Johns , Blaklie (Landon) Straub, Kayley (Blade) Smith, Zachary Nichols, Amelia Kirby, Lillie Nichols, Luke Kirby and Evelyn Kirby; 6 great-grandchildren - Crimson Smith, Brooks Straub, Dayton Smith, Barrett Straub, Raelynn Smith, and Bella Straub, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father - Ottis Kirby, mother - Eloise Peek, and sister - Sarah Houser.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Ralph Kirby will be held at Bible Baptist Church at 6:00 PM on Friday, March 3. 2023, 1605 Hamric Drive East Oxford, AL 36203 with Mike Drummond officiating.
