She was a long time employee in the insurance industry employed by Provident Life and Accident of Chattanooga, TN and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Columbia, SC. She lived in Fort Oglethorpe, GA and East Ridge, TN until she met and married Vernon Larry Bussey of Oxford, AL in 1984. Pat and Larry owned and operated a BBQ business in Lincoln, AL during the 1990's. After retirement, Larry and Pat resided in Oxford, AL until Larry's death in 2002. She was a member of Sunny Eve Baptist Church. In February 2021, she moved to Delta, AL. During her time in Delta, she was a compassionate caregiver to her sister Ginny O'steen through a lengthy illness.
She was an intelligent, fun, loving, and family-oriented mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She always made everyone feel loved and welcomed.
If you had the chance to know her, you knew she had a heart to help people. Pat was an avid animal lover and adored her cats and her many dogs that she owned through the years. She loved flamingos as evidenced by the group that decorated her yard. She spent many summers at the beach with her family and hosted many gatherings for the family at the porch on the lake. Pat always made everyone feel loved and valued. She is loved dearly by her family and will be greatly missed, but we are grateful to God for His heavenly home.
We will announce a memorial service for close family and friends at a later date.
