Norma Jean "Gena" Holcombe's Obituary
Norma Jean “Gena” Holcombe, 74, born on August 8, 1950, passed away peacefully after an illness on July 15, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Jacksonville Church of God with Rev. David Daniels officiating.
Gena is survived by her beloved children, Carl Maskew (Karen), Theresa Shadrix (Mickey), and Edward Maskew (April), along with her grandchildren Jeremy Lindsey (Beth), Solomon Shadrix, Simeon Shadrix, Gavin Maskew (Sheyna), Meaghan Griffis (Wyatt), Ellis Maskew, Kellam Maskew, and Jesse Page, as well as five great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sisters, Claire Martin (Mike) and Monica Holcombe, and her brothers, Brien Holcombe (Charlotte), Lane Holcombe (Joseph), Tom Holcombe (Lisa), and Bill Holcombe (Frank).
Gena was preceded in death by her youngest son, Richard Mitchell Shrum, her mother, Mary Pat O’Brien Holcombe, her father, Thomas Joseph Holcombe, her biological father, Felton Arless McEntire, and her half-sister, Gretchen Williams.
Gena was from Grand Bay, Alabama and graduated from Mobile County High School. In her youth, she proudly served in the Army, training at Ft. McClellan, Alabama, and later stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas. She was known for her vivacious laugh and profound love of theatre, which brought joy to those around her.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the ICU staff at RMC and her dedicated caregiver, Lisa Clark.
Gena will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jacksonville Church of God in Gena's memory.
