As a colleague at Inner Harbor, I had many opportunities to discuss issues with Nedra Manners. Nedra was a dedicated advocate for the safety and protection of the children there, and often pointed out actions or problems that might affect them. She was always reviewing situations and talking with the children. As a doctor and then as medical director, this gave me the strongest confidence that nothing was happening "behind my back", and she was unsparing in challenging my actions with the children as well. Nedra did this without hostility or negativity, but with a focused persistence that meant that she would not ignore a problem. We were both busy with our tasks, and my only regret is that we did not have more time to talk, so I could to learn more about the unique woman that she was.

Nedra was not only a friend to me but also a mentor. We sat in my office discussing the rights and the wrongs in the world. She always told me that I could make her laugh more than anyone else. We had lost touch over the years but she will be fondly remembered!😞

Nedra Manners was my dedicated colleague at Inner Harbour. She was always focused on the welfare of the children, even when it meant challenging what I wanted to do. She always did this with a warm respectful presence to others that made it easier to accept her message when it was a challenge. I have the highest respect for her integrity and love of others, and only wish that there had been more time to get to know her better. Over the years I have followed her adventures online and know that she continued to be a presence in the community. She will be missed, but leaves me with a memory of how someone can live in truth and kindness.

I remember so many times how Nedra was so nice to my parents and me. We lived next door and saw that several times, whether it was during those special Christmas dinners at the Manners house or when she and Mr. and Mrs. Manner’s would visit us. She always seemed to be positive and very courteous to everyone. She loved sitting down and talking about antiques and estate sales with Mrs. her mom and my mom. She was such a genuine person. She will be very missed.
