Michael Thornton's Obituary
Michael Thornton age 68 of Sylacauga, Alabama, died Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at home surrounded by family. Michael was preceded in death by his Father Elvis Thornton and Brother Gerald Thornton. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Brenda (Lindsey) Thornton, Daughter Mechelle (Coen) Caquelein of The Netherlands, Son Matthew Phillips of Sylacauga, Loving grandchildren Charles Price, Michael (Alexandria) Price,, Matthew Caquelein, Maaike Caquelein, and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his Mother, Dimple Thornton Martin, Brother Tracy Thornton, Sister in Law Rhonda Thornton and many nieces, nephews and cousins and special neighbors, who loved him dearly. Michael graduated from B.B. Comer High School in Sylacauga, Al. He worked for over forty years in railroad construction and loved his job. He enjoyed quiet times with his wife, fishing, watching old westerns, and family gatherings. He always had a positive attitude, sweet smile, and kind words for everyone. He will be forever missed by his family and friends.
A Celebration of Michael’s Life will be held as soon as possible when family members who are away can come home and all is safe for gathering.
Special thanks to Comfort Care Hospice for their gentle care of Michael and family, and to his special Friend Ron of Georgia who always called to check on him, and all who have prayed and given so much love to Michael.
