Michael Scott Souder's Obituary
Michael Scott Souder, age 44, of Gadsden, passed away on May 23, 2026, at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.
Michael had a deep love for horticulture and especially enjoyed exploring and cultivating different varieties of plants. He also loved playing golf, collecting coins, trading cards, and discovering old antique treasures. A self‑employed landscaper for 24 years through his business, Earthscapes, Michael built his life around the outdoors. After high school, he continued his education at Lake City College in Lakeland, Florida, where he studied Golf, Landscape, and Horticulture—training that shaped both his career and his passions.
He is survived by his mother, Susan Lombardo, Jim Lombardo, of Gadsden; father, Scott Walter Souder, and step‑mother, Lisa, of Oxford Chosen Sons, Tristan Cox, Taylor Barber; his brothers, Daniel Blake Souder; Nick Lombardo, Chris Lombardo, grandmother, Elizabeth Ann Chergi of Oxford; aunts, Kelly Ann Souder Cox of McDonough,Ga., Toni Grisham, Lynn Rutledge and her husband, Forrest, uncles, Venny Barnett and Lisa Barnett, Michael George Souder of Hazel Green, Paul E. Chergi, and Steven Martin Cox of McDonough, GA; along with a host of cousins, many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly, along with dogs, Pacino, and Boogie.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandfather, George EW Souder, Grandparents Jerry and Kay Barnett, and by his step-grandfather, Robert M. Chergi.
A funeral service honoring Michael’s life will be held Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., with Pastor Jonathan Pate officiating.
Visitation will begin at 2pm in the Magnolia House at Cremation Services of East Alabama, 733 White Plains Road, Anniston, AL 36207.
The family extends special appreciation to Toni Barnett Grisham and Jim for their dedicated assistance and unwavering support to both Michael and Susan.
