Linda Dean Battles Wilkes' Obituary
Linda Dean Battles Wilkes, 76, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was a graduate of UAB (1972) and attended Jacksonville State University. Linda retired in 2012 from the City of Gardendale, where she served as the event manager at the Gardendale Civic Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Murray and Danny Battles, and her brothers, Skip and Randy Battles. Linda is survived by her husband, Jimmy Wilkes; son, Reid Harris; stepchildren, Jon (Miranda) Wilkes and Jennifer (Tim) Smith; grandchildren, Rachel and Sara Smith, and Olive and Ezra Wilkes; as well as nephews, Rhys and Braxton Battles.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Southside Baptist Church in Southside, Alabama. Pastor David Little will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, your local Humane Society, or Southside Baptist Church in Linda’s memory.
