Larry "Clutch" Combs' Obituary
Larry “Clutch” Combs was 61 years old when he passed away in Anniston, Alabama on June 8, 2021, from a heart attack. Larry was born September 4, 1959 in East Chicago, Indiana.
Larry grew up in Hammond, Indiana, where he played baseball at Irving Little League. He learned to play the guitar at an early age and played with many friends and people throughout his life. He played in many bands such as CARGO, EZ-Prey and many others. He married Patricia Combs on June 25, 1993, and later became a father to his only son, David Combs on January 5, 1997. Larry was a stay at home Dad to David and played music for money in his many bands on most weekends. Larry’s love for music would be hard to match by just about anybody. He kept suitcases and storage bins full of CDs ranging from the Scorpions to Aerosmith to Frank Sinatra. He probably owned over 1500 cds in his collection. The majority of his life was spent in Hammond and about 15 years in Alabama where he left this life. He was also very big into sports, his teams being the Chicago Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks. He didn’t care for the White Sox but never failed to bring up how his dad, Scott, welded the foul poles at the original Comiskey Park. Larry loved to grill probably more than anything else. There was always chicken legs or some form of meat on the grill. He grilled on average 5 nights per week.
Larry is survived by his former wife, Patricia Combs; son, David Combs; step mother, Judy Combs; brother, David Combs; sister-in-law, Eva Combs; nephew, Mark Medina; nephew, Sam Combs; nephew, Louis Combs; and great niece, Daniella Medina.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Bertha Combs; father, Scott Combs; and mother, Mary Combs.
