Lamar Holderfield's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Julius Lamar Holderfield of Anniston, Alabama. After a brief battle with cancer, Lamar passed away peacefully October 16, 2025, in Jacksonville surrounded by loved ones. He was 72 years old.
Lamar was born in Anniston, Alabama on May 12, 1953.
Having lived in Anniston, almost all his life Lamar graduated from Wellborn High School Class of 1971. Lamar was a man of varied talents. The same hands who built foundation forms for skyscrapers in Texas wrote thought provoking poetry. He loved growing flowers and taking care of homeless animals. Lamar attended Parker Memorial Baptist Church and worked at the Anniston Fellowship House. Lamar was a diehard Crimson Tide football fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents Comer and Myrl Holderfield of Anniston, Al.
Left to cherish his memory are two sisters, Shirley Watkins of Wedowee and Barbara Daugherty (Milton) of Anniston as well as three brothers, Benny Holderfield (Marilyn) of Weaver, Leon Holderfield of Mableton, GA, and David Holderfield (Charyl) of Anniston. Lamar had numerous cousins, friends, nieces, nephews, and a family of brothers at Anniston Fellowship House who also loved him and were very proud of him.
A private family memorial service to honor the life of Lamar will be held later.
In lieu of flowers family ask that donations be made to Anniston Fellowship House.
