Kenneth V. Tankersley's Obituary
Memorial services for Kenneth V. Tankersley, age 79 of Eastaboga, will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Brookside Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the service time at the church.
Mr. Tankersley passed away on January 20, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Houston and Pearlea Tankersley; siblings, Nathan Tankersley, Mary Anderson, Bill Tankersley and David Tankersley; and wife, Linda Tankersley.
Mr. Tankersley is survived by his daughters, Lynn Goble of Panama City, FL, Monica Sparks (Gary) of Oxford, and Vanda Cannington (Shannon) of Oxford; sons, Cam Higgins and Lance Higgins; grandchildren, Robert Sparks (Meaghen) and Alanna Higgins; great grandchildren, McKenna Sparks and Conor Sparks; siblings, Eddie Tankersley (Barbara) and Donald Tankersley (Jean); sister-in-law, Barbara Tankersley; and brother-in-law, Butch Patterson; and ex-wife, Bobbie Tankersley.
He was a member of the first graduating class of Saks High School in 1962. He attended Jacksonville State University and later earned a Bachelor of Ministry from Andersonville Theological Seminary. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1966-1970. He was retired from the Anniston Army Depot.
He sang Southern Gospel Music for many years singing with The Gospel Sounds, Goldenaires Quartet, and later formed The Tankersley Family with his wife Linda, daughters Monica and Vanda and his son in law Gary. He pastored the following churches: Cragdale Baptist Church in Talladega County, Rock Run Baptist Church in Cherokee County and Center Baptist Church in Chambers County.
He was a loving husband, father, GannGann, Uncle and friend to all that loved him.
The family would like to thank RMC, Amedisys Hospice, Meghan Dunaway, and Destiny Hughes for their care during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Brookside Baptist Church, 405 Kirby Rd., Oxford, AL 36203, in his memory.
