Sgt. John Wesley Long's Obituary
Mr. Long, age 83 of Anniston, Alabama passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023 after a brief illness. Memorial service will be held Cornerstone Church at 2885 Choccolocco Rd Anniston, Alabama on July 24th at 2pm and will be laid to rest at a later date at the Alabama National Cemetary in Montevallo, Alabama.
Adopted from an orphanage in New Orleans, Louisiana as a little one crawling, by John Wesley Faucett and Elenor’s Menard Faucett which preceded him. Survived by his friends from many places, Berry Manor where he lived; the Williams family in Beaumont, Texas; Cornerstone Church where he supported and attended and his friends that he drank coffee at the Quintard Mall until his illness. His caregivers Sherry Chapman, Rachel Perkins, Stacy Jones, Hannah Fugatt and JoAnn Thompson. And many many more friends.
He grew up in Beaumont, Texas. Joined the Army in 1957 at the age of 18 at Fort Polk in Many, Louisiana. Retired from the United States Army in 1977 at Military Units- Noble Army Hospital Fort McClellan, Alabama
His metals include: 7 Oversea Service Bars, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Presidential Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Honor Medal. National Defense Service Medal, Vietminh Service Medal with 10 Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with “60” Device, Good Conduct Medal (5thAward), Combat Medic’s Badge, Bronze Star Medal with “V” Device, Ammed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea),

He was a caring gentleman that would give to anyone in need.
He helped everyone he new and never spoke harshly about anyone. He became a friend to everyone he ran into. Always funny and would make you laugh. You couldn’t help but love him. He loved to golf with his friends, enjoyed fishing with his friend Jessie Woodard and his coffee friends at the Quintard Mall. He will be greatly missed by all.
