Janet “Nanny” Leigh Allen née Binner, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2026, at the age of 65.
Born on February 15, 1961, in Smyrna, Georgia, Janet spent her childhood in Georgia before making her home in Anniston, Alabama. Throughout her life, she was known for her kind heart, selfless spirit, quick sense of humor, and unwavering love for her family.
Janet was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Ken. She is also survived by her brother, Rich; her three children, Robert, Nick, and Angel; her daughter in Law Joanna, son-in-law Jimmy her stepdaughter, Amber, and her husband, Greg; her nephews, Tre and Tyler; her eight cherished “Grands”, Aleisha, Alayna, Jalynn, Emma, Ava, Adriana, Andrew, and Caleb; and her four treasured “Great-Grads”, Layton “Boy”, Adley Madeline, Anarriyah, She leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who loved her deeply.
A true Daddy’s girl from the very beginning, Janet carried that special bond with her throughout her life. She became a mother at a young age and dedicated herself completely to raising her children, making countless sacrifices to give them the best childhood and every opportunity she could.
For more than 30 years, Janet worked in the restaurant industry, where her warm personality, infectious laughter, and gift for making people feel welcome made a lasting impression on everyone she served. She loved the fast pace, the friendships she made, and the joy of making every guest’s experience a memorable one.
While she loved her work and her kids and friends and family, nothing compared to the joy she found in being “Nanny.” Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Whether she was celebrating milestones, hosting family gatherings, or simply enjoying a day by the pool surrounded by those she loved, Janet’s happiest moments were always with her family.
Janet never put herself first. She was the kind of person who made sure everyone else was cared for before thinking of herself. Her generosity, compassion, and unconditional love touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She had a way of making people feel at home, and her family and friends adored her just as deeply as she adored them.
Above all, Janet loved her husband, her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, her family, her friends, and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with all her heart. Her legacy of faith, love, laughter, and selflessness will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched.
She was truly one of a kind, and she will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten
