James Edward Barksdale's Obituary
James Edward Barksdale
09/04/1960- 01/04/2024
Edward Barksdale, age 63, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, January 4, 2024.
Edward was born in a small town in Georgia, on September 4, 1940 to Leon and Annie Joyce Barksdale. He spent most of his life keeping the roads hot in Lincoln, Alabama. If there was trouble to be had, you best believe, he was in on it. He lived his life on the edge of his seat from being shot at, to being ran over, he was tough as nails and didn't hold anything back. He was always down for a good bet, even though he wasn't always the greatest at winning those, but you best believe if Alabama was playing, he would always bet on them. On any given day you could usually find him on the dance floor holding a bottle of Seagram's 7, having the time of his life listening to a classic from Gene Watson- "Farewell party". His nieces and nephews loved him, and would flock over to uncle Edward's house to get a taste of his, drunken chicken. He loved to build things with his hands so he spent 25 hardworking years working for Perry Construction. He bled crimson tide red and always had a t-shirt and hat to match. If you ever crossed paths with him, he remembered you, and with him, he never met many strangers. Out of all the titles he loved to be called his two favorites were, Dad and Paw Paw, and he took those words very seriously. Vannah and Tay Tay gave him so much laughter and joy, and when you heard him talk about them, his smile would radiate a room with pride. To his family and friends he was so much more than just a name in an obituary. He was a son, brother, father, pawpaw, uncle, cousin and friend who always had the tool to literally fix it all! Edward loved life and he squeezed every bit of good time, out of it.
Left to carry on Edward's memory:
Daughters: Vannah (Jessica) Barksdale, Whitney (Marisa) Bates. Grandchildren; La'Tayah Embry and Dax Bates. Siblings; Rosemary (Robin) Robinson, Lamar Edwards, Bonnie (Eugene) Barnes, Sandra Sweener, Janice Martin, Rebecca Smith, Harris Barksdale, Clyde Barksdale, Hollis Mann, and Patricia Barksdale.
