James Lynn Abernathy, 40 of Ohatchee passed away at his home on Tuesday September 20,2022, after a long illness. James is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 24 years, Brandy Abernathy. They have 2 wonderful boys Owen and Logan Abernathy. Other survivors include his father Phillip Abernathy (Charita); sister Jennifer Knightly(Tim); father-in-law Keith Dunaway; brother-in-law Brandon Dunaway (Brittany); grandmother Katie Abernathy; grandfather John Smith; nephews and niece Xander, Ian, Neal Knightly, Emily and Branson Dunaway; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother Denise Abernathy and mother in law Pansy Dunaway; grandparents Neal Glenn Abernathy, Muriel Smith, David Dunaway, Martha Dunaway and Lorain Campbell and nephew Bryson Dunaway. James was born in Anniston on April 29,1982. He was a graduate of Ohatchee High school and attended Jacksonville State University. He was an employee of Benjamin Moore for 20 years. He was a loving husband and father.
