Jack B Masterson Jr.'s Obituary
On Sunday, September 10, 2023, Jack B. Masterson, Jr., 71, of Gadsden, AL, passed away peacefully at home where he resided with his daughter and caregiver, Tracy (Charlie) Watts for the last 8 years.
Jack was born on October 21, 1951, to Jack B. Masterson, Sr. and Claudia Masterson of Birmingham, Alabama. After graduating from Leeds High School, he enlisted in the United States Army. Upon completion of his service in the Army, he returned to Birmingham, where he had a long and distinguished career in the grocery business. Jack worked for the Bruno family as a store designer from January 1970 until March 1992. In April 1992, he went to work for Piggly Wiggly Alabama Distributing Company and was the Director of Store Development until his retirement in 2016. In July of 2017 Jack became a transplant recipient.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Claudia Masterson, and his brother Aaron Fields. He is survived by his daughters, Tracy (Charlie) Masterson Watts and Kim Masterson; sisters, Martha Ports and Linda (Tommy) Niles; grandchildren, Brittney, Jeremiah, and LaKendra Watts and Elizabeth Campbell; and great-grandchildren, Ke’maree Wallace, Ki’yori Cooper, and Messiah Johnson.
He is being cremated and a memorial service and interment will be held at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama at a later date. In lieu of food or flowers, the family requests donations be made to Legacy of Hope in Jack’s memory and for friends and family to register to be an organ donor.
