Frances Marilyn Buchanan Glass' Obituary
Frances Marilyn Buchanan Glass, 78, of Trussville, Alabama, peacefully passed away at her home on September 11, 2025, surrounded by her family and friends. She was a woman of deep faith, a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend. She loved the Lord and put Him first in all that she did.
Born November 7, 1946, in Chattanooga, TN, to Robert and Doris Buchanan, Marilyn was the oldest of four siblings. She attended Freed-Hardeman College and Harding College where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Education and, more importantly, met the love of her life, Richard Glass. The couple married on April 9, 1971, and together they shared a life full of love, laughter, and service. Marilyn was a dedicated member of the Roebuck Parkway Church of Christ and Deerfoot Church of Christ in Trussville, Alabama, where for many years she taught children’s Bible classes and was active in the Deaf Ministry, serving as a sign language interpreter. Marilyn was known for her strong faith, fun-loving personality, deep and loyal friendships, and her compassion for others.
The role in life she treasured most was being a mother and a grandmother. Marilyn poured her heart into raising her three daughters, Amy, Bethany and Emily and was a constant loving presence to her grandchildren, Drew, Anna Claire, Reed, Lucas, and Hannah. She never missed an opportunity to create special memories with family, whether it was walks on the beach, fun in the kitchen, or making the holidays magical. She leaves behind a legacy of faith and love in her children and grandchildren.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 54 years, Richard; daughters, Bethany (Kyle) Butt and Emily (Randy) Wilson; grandchildren, Drew Butt, Anna Claire Butt, Reed Butt, Lucas Wilson, and Hannah Wilson; sisters, Cheryl (Larry) Judd and Dean (Jim) Gregorec; and many cousins, nephews, and friends who loved her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Glass; parents, Robert and Doris Buchanan; and her brother, Ted Buchanan.
A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the Deerfoot Church of Christ in Trussville, Alabama with Jeff Jenkins officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Amy Rebekah Glass Memorial Academic Scholarship at Freed Hardeman University or the charity of your choice.
