Edward O'Brien Maskew's Obituary
Edward O’Brien Maskew, 53, was born on July 27, 1972, in Pascagoula, MS, and passed away on January 16, 2026, in Gadsden, AL, after a courageous battle with heart-related issues.
Edward is survived by his loving wife, April Maskew, and children; Gavin Maskew (Sheyna), Meaghan Griffis (Wyatt), Ellis Maskew, Kellam Maskew, Jesse Maskew, and Wyatt Page (Michele). He was a proud grandfather to Allison Maskew, Giana Maskew, Charlotte Griffis, Kolton Page, and Eliot Page.
He is also survived by his mother, Joanne Maskew and his siblings; Carl Maskew (Karen), Theresa Shadrix (Mickey), Todd Ferrer (Ginnie), Carl Ferrer (Sherrie), Greg Ferrer (Lynette), Aaron Bruton (Katie), Brian Bruton (Veronica), and Candice Bryan.
Edward cherished his in-laws, including his mother-in-law, Starr Gifford, and brothers-in-law, Michael Gifford and Scott Griffioen. His best friends, Thomas Hand, all his crew from Chili’s, his nephews, Solomon and Simeon Shadrix, and his dog, Sebastian, held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Maskew, his mother, Gena Holcombe, his brother, Richard Shrum, and his grandparents; Ellis and Desserre Maskew, Thomas Holcombe, Mary “Pat” Holcombe, and W. L. ‘Billy’ Witchen and Doris K. Witchen.
Edward’s warmth, humor, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy will live on through his family and friends, who cherished their time with him.
Services will be held at Cremation Services of East Alabama 733 White Plains Rd, Anniston, AL 36207 in The Magnolia House on January 23, 2026, with visitation from 11AM - 1PM followed by a service from 1 - 2PM.
