Edward Hawkins' Obituary
Edward Hawkins, of Pell City, Alabama, passed peacefully on the morning of April 27, 2023, at the age of 67. He is survived by his mother, Charlotte Hawkins; brother, Rick Hawkins; daughter and son-in-law Gloria and Tyler Gould; his girlfriend, Betty Morgan; and step daughters, Amanda Harrison and Amber Ryder.
Edward was also the proud Papa to 8 adoring grandchildren whom all loved him dearly: Elora and Everhardt Gould, Kayleigh Utley, Brooklynn Paulk, Trey, Abbie, Alana and Trace Hughey.
Ed was a man of few words, or so it seemed. Really, it was up to you to be patient and quiet enough to listen. He had a heart of gold and hands of steel and was always willing to lend both. He loved music, some would even say "he missed his calling", as he had such a beautiful singing voice. If you didn't know that about him, well, it's because he was also shy. He was a specialized diesel mechanic and heavy truck specialist. He never met a motor he wouldn't attempt to fix, and more often than not, was successful. His gears were always turning, always thinking, about the world, about his family, about a little bit of everything, and what his next project would be. Even in the final days of his life, he wanted nothing more than to work on a lawn mower with his grandson, Everhardt, and tinker in his garage.
Ed's passing is such an incredible loss to those who knew him, but there is comfort in knowing, he is at peace. He will be forever missed and remembered. "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." - Dr. Suess
