Eddie Lamar Barton's Obituary
Eddie Lamar Barton, beloved son of Claude and Leola Barton of Hapeville, Georgia, passed away August 29, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the devoted husband of Shirley Barton, and a proud and loving father to the late Wendy Barton Boyd, Cynthia Barton, and Spencer Harris.
Born and raised in Hapeville, Eddie was a man of strength, loyalty, and deep compassion. After losing his father at the age of 12, he stepped up with incredible maturity and dedication to help care for his mother and seven sisters. His commitment to family never wavered—he also played a guiding role in raising his niece, Regina Lula Jones, and his six nephews, known affectionately as the Jones boys.
Eddie was known far and wide as one of the best mechanics in Atlanta. He was hardworking, honest, and had an unmatched talent for fixing anything with an engine. But more than that, he was a man of integrity—a true family man who would help anyone in need without hesitation.
He was a loving father who not only raised his daughters with care and pride, but also shared his wisdom and passions with his stepson, teaching him to hunt and appreciate the outdoors. His generosity, strength, and quiet guidance left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
As his daughter Cynthia shared:
"This is what I know—my daddy was a really good man. He was so good to his family, the best husband, the best daddy, the hardest worker, and the best mechanic in Atlanta."
Eddie Lamar Barton will be remembered not only for his skills and dedication, but for the love he poured into his family and community. His heart of gold, steady hands, and unwavering presence will be missed beyond measure.
