Donnie McGatha's Obituary
Donald Wayne McGatha, age 74, of Piedmont, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on June 22, 2026.
Born on November 1, 1951, Donnie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was about to celebrate 50 years of marriage with his loving wife, Charlene McGatha, a milestone that reflected a lifetime of love and devotion.
Donnie loved Alabama football, working on cars, and spending time with his grandchildren, who lovingly knew him as “PawPaw.” The memories he created with them will be cherished for years to come.
He is survived by his cherished wife, Charlene McGatha; his loving daughter Cristen Boles; his grandchildren, Emma and Luke Boles; his sisters, Martha Jo Sentell, Dianne Green, Debra Winfrey, Kathy Rogers, and Sandra Scott; his brothers, Thomas Matthews(Jewell), Hugh McGatha (Catherine), Jerry McGatha, P. D. Wheeler Jr. (Rebecca), as well as a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
Donnie will be remembered for his love of family, his hardworking nature, and the many lives he touched throughout the years. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to thank everyone at Alabama Hospice Care of East Alabama for everything they did to help during Donald’s sickness and passing.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Nance’s Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery.
