Dawn Traywick Floyd's Obituary
Dawn Traywick-Floyd was a caring mother, Mimi, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She passed away at home on November 29, 2022 at the age of 54 after a courageous fight with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will honor her in various ways, including raising awareness of the invasive disease.
Dawn is survived by her mother, Helen Vinson, two sons, Joshua Floyd and Scott Littlejohn, five grandchildren, Crimson, Mason, Echo Moon, Hayden Emory, and Shiloh Soul, sisters Carol Hubbard (Fred), Bonnie Kilgore, Janice Daniel (Terry), Tammy Stone, and Jamie Gardner (Alan), a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, James Traywick, her nephew, Michael Clark, and stepfather, Ora Vinson.
Dawn was a 1986 graduate of Oxford High School. She lived most of her life in or around Calhoun County. She loved visits with family and friends, but especially her grandchildren. She found great joy in swimming and pretending to be a mermaid with her granddaughter, Crimson. Fishing was one of her favorite pastimes. She enjoyed listening to a variety of music and traveling to see various places, especially the beach. Sand between her toes provided comfort during painful times.
Dawn’s family would like to give special recognition to close friends of hers, Jerry and June Barker, who provided loving care for her in her final months, as well as Lakeside Hospice for their assistance in her final days. Also special thanks is to be extended to Dr. Mack Nathan Barnes III at Grandview for his service and compassion during Dawn’s illness.
Dawn will be honored with a celebration of life on Saturday, December 17 at 1:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Fellowship Church in Weaver, Alabama, 613 Weaver Lane, Weaver, AL, 36277.
