David Quinn Oswalt's Obituary
David Quinn Oswalt, of Talladega, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on July 17, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on October 25, 1957 in Andalusia, Alabama, David lived a life defined by hard work, a strong spirit, and a quiet love for the simple things.
A talented and successful mechanic by trade, David could fix just about anything and was always willing to lend a hand to a neighbor in need. Beyond his work, he was an avid hunter and true woodsman. David found peace and purpose in the stillness of nature. He lived by a personal code of resilience and independence—because, as he would say, “You can’t keep a deer hunter down.”
David was a man of faith who knew the Lord and walked with Him. He departed this world with peace in his heart, secure in the promise of eternal life.
David is survived by his son, Daniel Oswalt; stepdaughters, Edie Smith and Tonya Graessle; and cherished family members, Debra Oswalt and Bobby Owen. He also leaves behind his sister, Carol Shadrick (Tim), brothers, Darryl Oswalt and Ellis Oswalt (Mandy), along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will carry his memory with them. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Fairria Oswalt.
David will be remembered for his kindness, strength, and the way he lived life on his own terms. He didn’t say much, but he always meant what he said—and those around him felt the steady comfort of his presence.
A private family gathering will be held to honor David’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to spend time outdoors or help someone in need—just as David often did, without needing to be asked.
