Darrell Eugene Dempsey's Obituary
We regret to announce the passing of Darrell Eugene Dempsey, of Oxford, AL, who went to his heavenly home on July 11th, 2022. Darrell was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, as well as a great friend who was always willing to help without hesitation.
Darrell was a long-time resident of Oxford, AL, and a retiree of Anniston Army Depot/ATACMS. He and his family moved to Germany in 1990, where his work with ATACMS continued for many years. Darrell always felt that Oxford was his home, so he returned there in 2006 to enjoy his retirement among family and friends. He was an avid member of Cheaha Baptist Church located in Oxford and proudly served the Lord in every part of his daily life as a Christian. Darrell will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Darrell was preceded in death by his father Ed Dempsey, mother Thelma Inez Dempsey, and brother Douglas Dempsey. Darrell is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ercella Howard Dempsey; son Edward (Christy) Dempsey and daughter Dana (Christopher) Johnson; grandchildren Summer (Chase) Greenwood, Garrett Dempsey, Blake Haynie, Brett (Shelby) Haynie, Tristan (Ariana) Ratliff, Bryson Johnson, and Jase Johnson; great-grandchildren Grayson Greenwood, Addison Kate Greenwood, Ryder Ratliff, and Maddox Haynie; sister Dale Todd; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date for immediate family.
