Cornell Stanford, a cherished individual known for his kind, loving, caring, and humorous personality, left us on April 8, 2025. Born on June, 20, 1961, Cornell lived a life filled with tremendous passion and service towards others. Cornell was born in Chicago, Ill, the 8th child of Maebell and Cornell Stanford’s fourteen children.
He graduated from Oxford High before entering the workforce. A skilled carpenter, Cornell could build and fix anything.
In 1983, Cornell met the love of his life, Mary Wilson. They married the next year on July 3. 1984 and remained married for 40 years.
Whether you called him Rap, Rap or Boss Boss, if you knew him, you called him friend because he never met a stranger.
He leaves to cherish his memories; His wife of 40 years, Mary Whitman. His devoted children: Jamica Wilson Whitman, Shanica Whitman, Cornell Whitman III, Tiewone Whitman. Grandchildren: Tyreyuna Croft, Zyla Ransaw, and Tristan Thompson. Brothers: James “Bo” Whitman, Jessie Stanford, Len (Cecilia) Stanford, Dwain (Sharon) Stanford. Sisters: Nazaree (Christopher) Lucas, Adisa (John) Pruitt. Brother-in-law: Joe Lewis Wilson, God Daughter: Datrica Hughley. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his parents: Cornell and Maebell Stanford and Jessie Nell Wilson and Frank Kendrick. Siblings; Sue Gilmer, Mary Whitman. Joann Whitman, Pamela Whitman, Isiah Whitman, Donald Whitman, Xerxes Stanford, John (Tomboy) Wilson, Diane Wilson.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the William Hutchinson Building in Hobson City.
