Cheryl (Cherie) Webster DeSpagna's Obituary
Cheryl (Cherie) Webster DeSpagna, a woman of deep faith, generous spirit, and a keen eye for a good find, passed away peacefully at her home in Anniston, Alabama, on April 4, 2026, at the age of 67.
Born on July 14, 1958, in Conway, New Hampshire, to Russell and Roberta Webster,
Cherie carried her New England roots with her throughout her life, even as she built a beautiful home in the South. She found her lifelong partner in Dave DeSpagna, and the two were wed on November 9, 2009, in Anniston.
Cherie’s professional life was rooted in her love for style and people, working for years in retail sales for London Fog and Casual Corner. This passion followed her into her personal life, where she became a legendary "bargain thrifter." With a talent that bordered on a superpower, she could spot a Michael Kors or Chanel bag from a mile away, always finding beauty and value where others might have looked past it.
Her compassion extended to the smallest among us. Cherie had a soft heart for
animals, particularly the neighborhood cats, providing tireless care for many ferals over the years. Her kindness was equally evident in her community service; for over 15 years, she was a cornerstone of the Lynch Family Missions Yard Sale and the Jesus is the Way Food Ministry.
At Harvest Church of God, Cherie wasn’t just a member; she was a "Prayer Warrior." For years, she served in the church's Drive-Thru Prayer ministry, offering hope and strength to strangers and friends alike. She was also the undisputed queen of the kitchen during the holidays, famous for an ambrosia salad that became a staple for the "Young at Heart" seniors and a cherished tradition at every family meal.
A spirited sports fan, Cherie’s loyalty was split between her New England upbringing
and her Alabama home. She could be found cheering just as loudly for the New
England Patriots as she did for the Atlanta Braves and Alabama football.
Cherie is survived by her devoted husband of 17 years, Dave DeSpagna; her mother,
Roberta Webster; her sister, Julie (Steve) Koch; her brother, Butch (Jenn) Webster; her
niece, Kayla (Jeremie) Lowberg; and her beloved grandnephew Zachary and
grandniece Elena. She was preceded in death by her father, Russell Webster.
A Memorial Service will be held at Harvest Church of God on April 14. Dave will receive friends at 10:00 AM, with the service following at 11:00 AM. The service will be officiated by Reverend Don Maddox, Reverend W.H. Ford, and Pastor Charlie Cosby.
In honor of Cherie’s spirit of giving, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Harvest Church of God Baptismal Fund.
