Charles R. Shepherd's Obituary
Charles R. (Coach) Shepherd, age 86, of Gadsden, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023.
Chuck was born in Ashland, Ky. on March 31, 1937, to James O. and Selema Shepherd, who both preceded him in death. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Donna Shepherd and his three daughters Lori Reeder (John), Melissa Body (Tommy) and Teresa Gray (Chris), Grandchildren Wade Thornton (Jennifer), Scott Nelson (Samantha), Ric Thomason (Valeria), Raney Body, Lelah Rogers (Alex), Adam Gray, Courtney Gray-Lowe, Brittany Luke, Kyle Reeder and 23 great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by his son Ricky Shepherd, sister Jackie Norris and brother Jimmy Norris.
Chuck was a 1955 Graduate of Ashland High School and later received his BA from Berea College. He retired after 35 years of service from Republic and Gulf State Steel. He was also the owner of Gadsden Trophy Shop.
Chuck was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan and basketball enthusiast. He coached and mentored youth in the Gadsden area for over 50 years.
