After a life well lived and loved, Catherine Genopolis Fields passed away on February 7, 2023, at the age of 90. For the past several years she put up a good fight against Alzheimer’s. We are grateful to have had her in our lives as long as we did. However, it became time for her to rest. She passed peacefully, surrounded by family and love.
She was preceded by her older Sister Helan Devolpi and Husband of 33 years, USN Cmd William “Bill” Fields.
She is survived by her younger sister Diane Nicholas, son Stuart Fields, daughter Karen Fields Wingard, son in law David Wingard, Grand Daughter Sara Rose Wingard, along with many beloved Nieces, Nephews and friends.
She was born on 8/5/1932 in Wilmington, Delaware. She spent her formative and early adult years in Norfolk, VA. After graduating Granby High School, she started the first of many supporting rolls within the Military and Civilian Intelligence and Strategic Command communities. In 1957 she married a Navy Man named Bill Fields and started moving around the world and raising her 2 children. In the early 90’s, She and Bill retired on the lake in Gainesville GA.
Known by many as Ms Kitty, she loved meeting new people and having many adventures. She touched many hearts, inspired many minds, while igniting creativity. She genuinely cared about people and often found herself being the trusted sounding board.
Through Bill’s association with the Olympics, they assisted with the selection process of the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta. After Bill’s passing in 1992, she continued advocating, planning, and hosting events held at the Lake Lanier Olympic Park in Gainesville, GA.
