Anthony Barrett Gilliam Jr's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Anthony Barrett Gilliam Jr., who passed away peacefully on July 17th at the age of 31.
Born on March 6th, 1995 in Greenwood, SC, Barrett lived a life defined by love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to family, friends, and his work family. Whether through a warm smile, a helping hand, or words of encouragement, he touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Barrett was a devoted father, son, brother, grandson, and friend who found life’s greatest joy in spending time with family. He also enjoyed hiking, working out, and spending time in the mountains, and will be remembered for his caring spirit and the love he shared with others.
Barrett took great pride in his work at Southeast Connections as a HSE professional, where he was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and the meaningful relationships he built with his coworkers building pipelines across the country.
He is survived by his son, Anthony Barrett Gilliam III; his father, Anthony “Tony” Barrett Gilliam Sr.; his brother Hunter Gilliam, his sisters, Alyssa Gilliam and Sierra Odell; his stepmother, DeAnna Musgrove; his grandparents, Harold and Jan Gilliam; his uncle, Stephen Gilliam; and Shadaisha Edwards, mother of his child, who shared in raising their son.
He was preceded in death by his mother Danielle Odell, whose memory he carried with him throughout his life, and several other family members.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in the countless memories, laughter, and love that Barrett leaves behind. His legacy will continue through the lives he touched and the values he shared.A celebration of Barrett’s life will be held at a time to be determined by family in SC. Family and friends are invited to attend and honor a life that was deeply loved and will be forever missed.Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever in our hearts.
