Ann Halloran Poindexter's Obituary
Ann Halloran Poindexter slipped away to the Lord quietly on April 10th at 4am after a long illness.
She was well loved by her four children, six grandchildren and husband, Tom.
Ann’s life had been filled with service to her family and friends around her.
While Tom was employed by Exxon in Bogota Colombia Ann was graduating from the University of Georgia. Soon after her graduation they married at Fort McClellan Post Chapel, they departed on Pan American from Miami for Bogota, Colombia. Her adventure there started with the birth of their first child. This slowed her down a little, but she continued with the work of creating an art department at De Esquela de Arte at the American school. A Year later Tom was reassigned to Havana Cuba. Later Ann
and Jr arrived there on the same day as Fidel Castro. The assignment was a short one, his next would be at Exxon Headquarters in Honduras, Central America. Honduras was a drastic change from their previous experiences, and it would not be their last. With four children traveling across Central/ South America, Europe, and the Caribbean (nine countries in total) they settled in Miami.
Ann’s ability to adapt to new countries, cultures, and environments all the while providing a well-run household. Addition to her church and public service she was always an amazement to those around
her. It almost appeared that the marital union and difficult adventures were divinely inspired.
To say that Ann would be missed would be a drastic understatement. All her family and friends will hold her close to their hearts forever.
