Patsy Gene Hanvey
March 1, 1934 - July 8, 2019
Patsy Gene Hanvey passed away peacefully at her home July 8th, 2019 after a long series of physical health setbacks, she was surrounded by family and close friends. Patsy requested she not have a funeral or memorial service, per a stipulation in her will. She made it clear that she did not want a lot of time spent on memorializing her death, as she was not dying only being relocated by God to be eternally with her husband James W. Hanvey who preceded in death in 1987. And she would want everyone to know she was a Cherokee Indian, with degrees in Archaeology and Anthropology which she used in her life career as a Historical Researcher and Cherokee potter. Also preceding her in death her parents, Albert Roten and Vivian Pate, brother Ceil Dean Roten and sister-in-law Barbara Roten. She is survived by her children son James M. Hanvey and daughter Tamara L. Hanvey Grandchildren Jessica Meagan Hanvey Irby, Lauren Brookes Hanvey, Jamie Beane Palmer Great Grandchildren Lucy Brookes Irby, Ezra Palmer and several extended family. The family would like to thank all of Mrs. Hanvey's friends and caregivers for their love and support during her illness. The family would also like to give a very special thank you to all those at Southern Care Hospice andAlabama Cremation Services of East Alabama for devoting their skill, time and love. The family welcomes flowers, or donations may be made to The Etowah County Historical or Westminster Christian Academy Lower School where reading starts!
