Joanne Marie Krafft

March 5, 1931 - January 31, 2022

Joanne Marie (Massoll) Krafft (90) passed away at her home in Huntsville, Alabama on January 31, 2022. She was the daughter of Roy Massoll and Selma (Reinbold) Massoll and was born March 5, 1931. Survivors are; her husband Norman (better known as Joe), her daughter Dawn (Sam) Hawkins, three grandsons, Shane Russell, Micah (Jari) Russell, Jacob Russell, great-grandson Moses Russell, her dear friend and sister-in-law Eleanor Krafft and her dear friend and cousin Mary Anne Mossner. She was predeceased by brothers-in-law Harold and Louis Krafft, sisters-in-law Eleanor Krafft and Luella (Alvin) Garchow. Joanne was born in Reese and was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church. She attended elementary school at Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Reese High School. She also attended Valparaiso University for a short time. She was married to Norman Krafft on September 28, 1957. They lived in Frankenmuth, Michigan until 2019. They loved their community of friends and family and attended St. Lorenz Lutheran Church together for many years. In 2019, they moved to Huntsville to be near their daughter. Joanne worked as a bookkeeper for 10 years for Lakeland Oil. She then worked for the Bavarian Inn and Zehnder’s Hotel for many years in the gift shops and bakery as a clerk, buyer, and manager. She retired in 1990. After she retired she volunteered as a Stephen’s Minister at St. Lorenz and spent time with friends and family. She enjoyed playing Bridge and other card games, traveling and camping. She traveled to many countries throughout the world including Russia, China, Venezuela, Morocco, Germany, Italy and France. She and Joe also visited every state in the USA during their long camping adventures together. Visitation is planned for Saturday February 19, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church with the funeral following at 11:00. A reception following the funeral will be held in the church basement for family and friends. Those wishing to give an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to St. Lorenz Lutheran Church.
