Glenda Gayle Easterwood

Memorial service for Glenda Gayle Easterwood (Owen), 71, of Ohatchee will be Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Dwelling Place Church (1900 Quintard Avenue, Anniston, AL) with Rev. Jackie Lee Williams officiating. The family will receive family and friends at 5PM to share stories and food and service will follow at 6PM. Glenda passed away peacefully at her home in Ohatchee after a long and brave battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). She is survived by her husband of almost 37 years, Danny Easterwood; daughter, Nicole Easterwood Thomas and son-in-law, Nathan Thomas; grandsons, Roman Thomas and Jackson Thomas; and sister, Charlotte Owen. Glenda was preceded in death by her father, Weems H. Owen, her mother, Ina Maie Owen Russell, and brother, Jerry Weems Owen. Glenda was born on March 13, 1950 in Anniston, Alabama at Anniston Memorial Hospital to Ina Owen Russell and Weems H. Owen. She spent her early childhood years living with her grandmother in High Point, North Carolina, but moved back to Calhoun County later in childhood. Glenda was a graduate of Oxford High School (Class of 1970). Glenda worked as a weaver for 40 years at Tape Craft before retiring in 2015. She was a lifelong Baptist and was a member of the homemaker’s class at West Anniston Baptist Church. She loved her family and the lord with all her heart and she was the best mother and Gan Gan. She will be immensely missed. Her family would like to extend extreme thanks and gratitude to all of her caregivers through Encompass Home Health and Hospice for taking such good care of her; especially to Jennifer Pearce, RN and Hannah Denham.
