Junior passed away early Sunday morning at his home from Heart Failure. He was born on July 16th, 1942 in Anniston to Calloway and Neva Dale Payton who have preceded him in death along with his wife, Brenda Newell Payton; brothers; Benny Payton, James Payton; sister, Marie McDowell, an infant sister, and his great granddaughter Emilie Rae Marie Payton. Junior is survived by his son, Mark Payton (Cheryl); daughters; Tammy Thompson (Mike), Julie Pettus; grandchildren: Skylar Payton, Dakota Payton, Raven Payton; his great-grandchildren: Gracelynn Faith Payton, Killian James Lucis Lakey, and by his siblings, Robert Payton (Sharon), Kenneth Payton (Judy), Helen Dibley (Ken), Susan Wigging (Jimmy), along with several nieces and nephews, and too many friends to count. Junior was a graduate of Oxford High School, after that he served his country during the Vietnam War in the US Navy. He retired from US Pipe and enjoyed hunting, fishing working in his yard and fellowshipping with his neighbor and good friend, Gene Wooten. The family would like to recognize the 9th floor staff at RMC and New Beacon Hospice for the love and care that was provided to Junior; and extend their sentiment as follows: Our Hero Dad, when we think of hero; you are what comes to mind. You have provided for us in times of struggle and uncertainty. You have made us the people that we are today because of your love for your family. Every single thing about you is Heaven worthy. If we turn out to be half the person you have always been, then we can rest assured that we have made you proud. Love for Eternity, Your children, Mark, Tammy and Julie
